2012 is ending...now what!?

The new year is among us. I started this blog literally two years ago and I can see my progression as a photographer. Even though I don't do too much serious stuff, I'm starting to see my style now. I just love carrying my camera during events. I want to be able to look back at old photos. When facebook and instagram is dead, my blog will still be around. I want to be able to show my kids how cool their dad was. I've seen friends come and go, but i'm very fortunate to have met everyone along the way. I look forward on meeting new people in the near future too. I'm also glad some people from the past was able to be part of my present as well. I know a camera can only capture a fraction of a second, but it's the memories that are behind each click that means something. My photography isn't necessarily the prettiest, but its for myself and anyone else willing to look.

What's next for Flow Fotography in 2013? I've had so many goals for this past year that I have not accomplished. I guess my new years resolutions and goals are turning into a bucket list for photography. Hahaa. It's all good. Maybe I was a bit too ambitious to think I can afford an L lens. I love all my gear and the subjects/models in front of my lens.

One thing I definitely want to improve on are my slideshow presentations. Hopefully I can afford a new computer which can handle my needs. Looking at building a computer I guess. My slideshow game needs to picked up. I just received my 40D so it'll be my main squeeze for 2013. More trips this year. Aiming to go to Texas, Fiji, Oregon (again), and maybe Hawaii. Let's see how well I do this year. Fiji...Flow Fotography is going international. I'm needing to try new things too...finding new projects, models, techniques, equipment. Everything will fall in place in due time. One other thing I need to work on is actually printing my photos. They can't be stuck in a computer/internet. I want to be able to look back through albums, the ones that you hold. Not the one's people make on facebook.

2012, you've seen the good and the bad. Thanks for sticking around. If you have any suggestions, I'm always open. I don't care if you shoot or not, you know whats pleasing. Make it happen, leave a comment.

Like always, Thanks for looking. Happy New Year.

Oregon Again and Again!

I went to visit my Vietnamese family in Oregon late November til early December. I was just there in past April. Yeah I went again. So what. This time I was able to see a Pete and Steph in their own environment, uptown Portland. Everything was literally walking distance. When I say everything, I mean bars. Pete was introducing me to more scotches, filling me with knowledge. I enjoy blends but single malts are pretty fresh too. Keepin' it G even up in hipster Oregon.

What did I do up there? Ate, drank, played video games, drank some more, and just spent quality time with family and friends. I was able to see their new cars. Kiet got a badass Tacoma and Steph got her cool looking 4WD Subaru Outback. Yeah, we still saw Diego. It was great to see their new apartment. We were able to walk to the Holiday Ale Festival when Khiem got the evil eye from a chic cause he saw her trip. HAHAA! I think thats the only time I drank beer. Everything else was shots or scotch. Wait, I also watched the Chargers lose to the Bengals. That was depressing. After all the drinking, I fell asleep in the bar. It was alright, they had a couch and they let me. You can't do that in Cali.

Another thing you can't do in Cali is experience a true winter. The cold breeze and walking throughout the city is amazing. Architecture was fun to shoot with the seasons changing. I can shoot Portland all day if the weather would let me.

One of my favorite things doing in Oregon didn't even involve going out. It was hanging out in the apartment and talking about life with Pete and Steph. One question that still strikes me "Are you happy?" Such a simple question being so deep. I still talk to Pete on the regular, but in person is a whole different story. Thats why its important for me to visit them. Hanging out with their family was a lot of fun. Chillin' with Mother, mafia Dad, Partner in crime Kiet and Khiem, and it's always pleasant to hang out with Jessica. Like I said in a previous post, it's all about being present. I can't wait to visit Oregon again. Steph and Pete are great host. Thank you guys for everything!!! I miss you guys already.

Camera Info: Canon 20D with either 50mm 1.4 or the 28mm 2.8 and trusty 430ex during indoor flash use.
Since this trip was mostly for me, I doubt people will save these pictures besides Pete and Steph. Check out the photos individually on my Picasa page.

Sushi with Sushi Chef Francis

It's still the holidays. New Years is among us. We have some visitors among us, Trinh from Montana, Austin from the Army, and Francis from The Colony! He has a treat for everyone. Making some fresh rolls for everyone post Christmas evening. It was an amazing turn out. Having fun isn't hard to do for us. It's a formula: Alcohol+Food+Friends=LEGENDARY!!

I had a blast seeing everyone since a lot of people are moving down south in San Diego, in the military, out of state, or finishing up their masters. Yeah I have smart friends. Hahaa. It was so refreshing to see everyone under a roof. you can tell from my photos that I was getting more buzzed based on the sharpness of the photo. The flash can only do so much. Francis certainly gave everyone a treat while taking shots of Crown or   drinking on a beer.

There is so much to say about that night, but I'm too tired to mention it. The photos don't do it justice. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Stay safe everyone.

Like always, thanks for stopping by. To download some of the photos which are only good for web use (72dpi) can be found via Picasa. Click here for the link.  As a Christmas gift to myself. I bought a vimeo plus account so I can upload faster and more. HD slideshows! Keepin' it WEST COAST!!!!

Photo info: Camera Canon 40D, shot in RAW. ISO 800. Shot in aperture priority mode set to f/3.5 on Canon 28mm 2.8 lens. Canon 430ex with light diffuser on ETTL.

Post edits: Lightroom 4. Basic edits. nothing crazy.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Flow Fotography!! aka ME!!! I really enjoy the holidays, the things that happen around it. I had my first love during the holidays. Even though we're not together, its a reminder of the power of Christmas. What makes the holidays amazing. The presents/presence. With my new job, I see more end of life than I care for. "I'm not afraid of death, I just don't want to be there when it happens." -Woody Allen. Even though we can't prevent our loved ones from dying, being there with our presence is the best thing we can do. I love it when I see family visiting loved one, plus it makes my job a lot easier too.

I always feel closer with people around me, whether it is family or friends. We can't control everything. However, one thing we can control is our presence. Just being there makes a huge difference. Having my family literally a mile away from me. My good friend Danh, literally a phone call away. My Oregon family of Pete and Steph, making my presence known with the visit (photos coming soon) and even my brother from Texas visiting SD for the holidays. I always have my revolution on my side too, good as gold. I'm glad I can celebrate this joyous season with the people I love. Bringing everyone close again. People who check this blog out.

I know I'm sharing private moments online, which I'm not necessarily a fan of, like facebook. But this is mostly for myself so i can look back. I haven't had the most time to edit pictures cause of my damn computer kinda failing on me. But I hope it'll hold up a little bit longer until I can afford a new one. Maybe even build one specifically for photography. I don't need the fanciest thing, but I sure do what something reliable that can keep up with my work flow. I just wanted to put some of my photos I have posted on IG. Cause IG will fade away like facebook one day. But hopefully I'll continue this blog for years to come.

This poinsettia is special to me, cause a patient of mine personally wanted me to have it. Even during her weakest points, she still had energy to care for the people around her.

BOKEH

Its a shame the horrible things that are happening right before the holidays like the elementary school shooting and the gunman who killed two first responder victims. Prayers to those familys and anyone else who needs them.

Charger BLACKOUT!

Happy Thanksgiving from FLOW FOTOGRAPHY aka just me. Hahaa. I hope everyone gave thanks for things we take things for granted, like awesome photography provided by FLOW re:MIX!!! jk jk. On the real, I'm thankful for a lot of things and I thank God every night for my own personal health, my job, food, roof, family, and friends. My blog is basically 90% of my friends then 10% my own photography. Whatever, I don't call myself a photographer. I'd like to think of it as a celebration of my people. Hahaa. I like to share my own private photos on this blog. Not on fuckin' facebook, but the true people who know my blog.

Anyways....this past Sunday was cool as hell. There were like 3 different tailgating groups meeting up. It was basically all esco. It brought back a lot of good memories from middle school to high school. I don't have to describe it, it was bad cool!!! Here are the pictures. This is strictly tailgating. Probably cause I couldn't afford the game so we just drank in the parking lot. LETS GO BOLTS!!!!!

All pictures were shot with the Canon 20D with the 20mm prime. It's growing on me. I can't remember the last time I shot with the 50mm. I think for events like this, the wide is a great choice. When I want to be artistic and focus tight, I'll bust out the 50mm. No complaints. I love all my lens in different ways. It's like picking your favorite child. You just can't. You love them all the same but for different reasons.

To download individual pictures, feel free to download off my picasa  I just ask you not to put them on facebook. I HATE facebook. AHHH!!! Follow me on Instagram though @flowremix. Like always....Thanks for looking.

Carlsbad Sunset

I just finished a beach run. I need to get in shape. I can't be smoked when I have future competitors. I saw the sunset reflecting off the shallow shore. I had to run faster to grab my camera. I was sweating when I was taking these photos. It was nearly pitch black. A lot of the shutter of them were longer than a minute. Tripod, shutter remote, lowest ISO, f8-11, cool looking shots. It was a reward for me after the run.
This was taken at the end of the run with my cell phone.
Feeling and looking tired after the run. I could barely smile.

You can see Oceanside Pier from there.

One of the inspirations for this photo and run. Funny/cute.

Time to catch up.

This past week has been fun and full of pleasant surprises. I'm training at my new job and I love it. Saving on gas, getting benefits (about time!). I attended a friend's engagement party, which those photos should come up pretty soon too. One of the other highlights were catching up with some old friends. I haven't talked to these kids in a while. They don't care for online communities, kinda like me. I do care, but not facebook care. I hung out with my buddies, saw their new house. During his tour of the house, he showed me some cool things. One of them was his dad's miniature boat. I don't know the scale, but the details of it is amazing. He was telling me how it took his dad a year to finish, its accurate, how it didn't come with anything besides some wood, cloth, and string. He had to assemble the entire thing. Its significant to him, because his father passed away and it was one of the few things he kept. At the end of the tour, he showed me his gun collection. Pretty intense. He had guns ranging from funny .38 acp handguns to beastly .308 Winchester rifles. One thing he kept special in his safe was a particular round. Him and his dad had a common interest in guns. One of his favorite rounds is a .308, pretty hefty bullet. His mom took some of his dad's ashes and pressed them into a .308 round. Of course he couldn't shoot it, but the importance and symbolism in it is amazing. RIP.

Had to show off the Double Black. Never bought a bottle for myself, but I really like it.

Seasons are changing for sure.

I get a lot of compliments for my photography and I appreciate them. When I look at my library of photos, I have a hard time filtering out my real artistic/serious photos from drunk photos. I really don't want to organize my past photos so I'm just gonna let Instagram handle it all. I started hash tagging flowremixcollection to help organize future photos. Hopefully it'll grow over time and easier to view.

Here is the start of #flowremixcollection with some falling leaves and autumn air. Shot with my 20D with 100mm 2.8 macro lens. Aperture priority, shot wide open, edited in Lightroom 4.

If anyone wants to do a photo shoot, lemme know. I'm wanting to be more active in my photography too. I know people love getting their photos taken. Here is a prime example how things are growing in terms of photography. Thanks Vsauce!

On Location: Garageworks.co

Check out some pictures I shot along with Jarhod of GarageWorks.co cars. We just hit some spots throughout San Marcos. It's always fun shooting some cars while testing out my wide lens. After shooting it for a bit, I'm still a fan on my 50mm. The 20mm is a cool lens, but wide shots aren't for me. I like my shots tight I guess. Hopefully it'll grow on me still. There were other cars, but most of my focus was on Garageworks.co. Curtis' STi and JJ's civics were also on the scene. After seeing the civic, I think my ned mod are gonna be side markers. Keepin' it JDM. Ryan's WRX is fresh. I've always been a fan of the bug eyed WRXs. Also we met this cool husky pup, 12 months old named Batman. I wonder why he was named that. Hahaa. By the end of the night, I felt disoriented because of the time change. It felt like it was 10pm, reality it was only 6pm. I don't know man. There

On Location: Wedding of the Year

Hash tag this, hash tag that, hash tag, hash tag, hash tag. The only hash tag that mattered was #weddingweekendactivated. If you have Instagram, please check it out. It was a weekend to remember for sure! People come all over the globe from the likes of Australia for this, high profile celebrity coming through. Everyone coming together for this special occasion of my very GREAT friends Aldrich Galimba and Jessica Nix. This moment has been long anticipated event for years.

These are not the official photographs of the wedding. Go visit Talia Studio for those. She has amazing photos. I just happened to bring my camera along for the ride, just like every other time. The only difference about this time, I have a new lens. A lot of my shots have been really tight, close due to my 50mm and 100mm lens, now I have a Canon 20mm f/2.8 lens. Pretty fun lens to have in the bag. Instead of editing my pictures through Lightroom 3, I upgraded to Lightroom 4. So much better than 3. So I played around with some photos, I know they're not perfect but it's the memory behind the photo that I enjoy.

Back to the weekend. It all started with the wedding rehearsal at St. Michael's church. I had work that day, but was lucky enough to leave early to meet up. Easy walk through. Took an hour, and yeah I snapped some pictures. Not too many.

Karl Strauss Brewery in Mira Mesa was the rehearsal dinner with had a bunch of family friends just enjoying ourselves. Then that's where I found out we had a celebrity within our presence. Country singer Zac Brown Band was among us. It's crazy, cause it wasn't the first time I've met the guy. I know him as Jason, the big guy who snores REALLY loud. Cool dude. I guess he's Jess' cousin. Out of all people, Aldrich had to tell me it was Zac Brown of the Zac Brown Band. NO SHIT!!!! Jess doesn't like telling he's a celebrity. She wants him to enjoy his vacation which I'm sure everyone would respect. It was great talking cameras among Jive and Zac Brown Band aka Jason. After hitting up beers after beers, it was time to round up the troops. The future bride and groom split their ways for the night to soon meet up the next day.

The groomsmen and groom stayed at a fresh spot off El Cajon Blvd called La Frette. It was like a condo that was haunted. It seemed old school with a couple flat screens. We just continued the guy's party there. People were starting to pass out. If you want to see pictures and videos of what happened, ask J Pang. Funny stuff. Time to get ready for the big day now!

The actual wedding day is here!! Saturday, October 27th, 2012. #weddingweekendactivated
It's a wedding. Beautiful. If you weren't there, you missed out. Me and Princess, I don't even know if that's her real name. We were secondary sponsors and had the honor to put the cord on the couple during the ceremony. I don't know what it signifies but its pretty important to the Filipino weddings. Weddings...they say "I do" family sheds tears and we're off the the reception.

The reception is where majority of the photos came from. Drunk-ness on my part. I took pictures, people stole my camera and took pictures. It was all fun. Open bar, great music, photo booth by TaliaStudio.com. We rocked the dance floor til midnight where things started to hit reality and no one couldn't party all night. Hahaa. Luckily I crashed at the Shearaton hotel with some other buddies. It's awesome to see so many familiar faces over the weekend. I know its hard to schedule everyone to see each other because of school, work, significant others, or because they live freaking in Texas or Oregon. But I'm glad to see my Oregon friends like Steph and Pete, Francis from Texas, and other the old school Escondido hommies. There are too many stories to tell on this entry. Let's just say we'll be talking about this for a while and it will be an anchor to many laughs and conversations.

I NEED TO PRINT these picture. If there is a certain picture I need to print, leave a comment. Cause honestly, I can't print all 250 photos. I'd like to take the top 50 to frame or add to a photo album. Maybe I should make a Costco hardbound photo book. I certainly have enough photos. I can't wait to see Talia's photos too!!! Leave some love for her at her site. Tell Amelia I said hi....shes too adorable not to hug.

This video is the montage that kinda messed up. I don't want to talk about it....here it is.

Joss' First Birthday

It's a sign that I'm getting old. I always thought I was a kid. WRONG!!! My friend's are getting married and they're having kids. I'm being called Uncle Remix now.

Joss had her first birthday. These photos were actually taken on June 30 of this year, but summer was busy. I'm playing catch up on photos.

Once again, I'm very fortunate to watch this precious angel grow up. I was there for her first photo shoot at home which you can see here. Now a year old, understanding her surroundings each day, learning to new things everyday, and watching her personality grow. Her parents are lucky. Ryan and Stine are great to her, spoiling her with nothing but love. I hang out with the couple pretty frequently and it's always a treat whenever Joss is around too. They are not scared to take baby Joss out. She'll be hanging out with the adults as we drink. She is always the center of attention and honestly, who can blame it. She is nothing but smiles with wandering eyes as she is entertained by smiles and loving friends.

Just like baby Cassius' birthday, the birthday celebrator was surrounded by family and friends. Of course we were drinking. That's how we celebrate, find any reason to drink. Joss had gifts galore, mostly Hello Kitty things. Notice the last picture of her Hello Kitty backpack...that was my gift. Hahaa. For a first year old party, it was fun. Alcohol, food, astro jump with a slide!!!! Yeah, there were other kids, but I'm not sure how parents feel about their kid online without permission, sooooo....they're not online. Plus, its all about Joss.

If you're wondering whats up with the music...it's Joss' favorite song. Maybe it's cause of the lyrics or the beat...but she shakes her booty to it whenever she hears it.

Happy Birthday JOSS!!!!

Setting Sail AUDIO!!

John Audio's deployment party is nothing but a haze in my memory. I remember being really hot and drinking a lot. Sloshball was intense while drinking Stone beer. Not bud light or 'water' but freakin' Stone Pale Ale. So after scoring my run, I was done. It was certainly a good time at Felicita Park. Good times none the less. Here are some of the pictures of that day.

Bates Nut Farm...lookin' Ripe!

I love it when seasons change, summer to fall, winter to spring, whatever. It's always nice to see some change. The air is starting to get cooler, I'm riding my bike more. Things are looking a lot better for me.

For some news about myself, I'm switching hospitals. It's for the best. It took a while for me to understand the importance for the future. So now I have a better position with full benefit which I lacked on my previous position. People were always surprised to hear that I didn't have benefits working at a hospital, but now that's not a problem. I'll be working on the medical/oncology floor at the new Palomar West near the infamous Stone Brewery. So I need to buy a growler soon.

The pumpkin patch was amazing compared to last year. It was the hassle to get there last year. We went on the worst time possible, the weekend before Halloween and a Charger bye week. I felt like EVERYONE went all at once. Super BUSY!!! This was not the case.

The pumpkin patch was free from clutter of crying kids and overloaded parking lots. I found the pumpkin I was looking for, had plenty of time to take quality shots, I wasn't rushed. I couldn't ask for anything more. Actually, I take that back. The thing that probably bugged me were the over sized pumpkins. The over size pumpkins were rotten, lob sided, collapsing on itself. I didn't see a decent over sized pumpkin.

Me and my sister just goofed around with the pumpkins. I took some candid pictures of her during the search of a perfect pumpkin. I used my 50mm and 100mm. I think you can tell when I used my 100mm with the intense bokeh. I'm starting to usethe 100mm macro for more than just macro shots. Its a fun lens to shot with.

The question is, what should I carve my pumpkin? Any ideas? Shoot them to me. Leave a comment.

Cassius' growing up!!!

Cassius, son of Brandon and Bethany Garcia. The future of hip hop/sports/anything good and pure, a true reflection of the Garcias. Bethany decided to take a mini vacation to the West coast while Brandon did training for the military. It was amazing to see Bethany and Cassius, seeing the size I last saw him. You can see him here the first day he was born.

Cassius' personality is definitely present. You can already know he is going to be a tidy and clean person by his attitude toward his messy birthday cake. He'd prefer to play with it while in the the cover than feel the sticky frosting.

It was a true treat to see all the family, bother from the Jordan and Garcia side. Family and friends are always present. Was there alcohol here? YES!!! Even though we weren't technically allowed to have it present as park rangers did a walk around making sure we didn't have it.

I know these pictures are late, but looking back at them reminds me how hot Escondido can be. Overwhelmed by mid 90 degree heat is never fun, but we made the most out of it. The heat was so bad, I felt as if we were the only group in the park.

I look forward on seeing this young boy grow up. Escondido misses the Garcia Family. WHAT UP PARADOX!!!

It's coming!!!

At the end of the month will be the wedding of the year (at least for me). My good friends Aldrich Galimba and Jessica Nix are going to be married by the end of the month. A long anticipated event for sure. I've known the couple for a while, I even took over their old room from Jessica's condo. It was a true pleasure to photography them as a couple. We decided to go to Balboa Park to do some photos. It was a busy Sunday. Actually, the first Sunday of the NFL season.

I love my camera. However, I wanted to do wider shots. I kinda stuck with my 50mm. It's the widest lens I have at the moment. Not very wide at all. It's considered a standard length lens. Great for portraits and "walk around lens" so things aren't distorted by the lens. But after working with some ultra wide angle lens, I can appreciate them. They can make anything look cool. During this trip with the future Galimba couple, I wanted to work on separation and do some wides. I didn't want to get too close. I think pretty satisfied with my work. I find it hard to be blown away. I know my strengths and try to work on my weaknesses. Let's just hope I keep on improving. It was fun shooting at Balboa, so we ended our day at one of the coolest bars in San Diego (IMO). West Coast Tavern in North Park is a hip spot. It was kind of dead, so we took advantage of the lack of seating and did our own little impromptu photo shoot. I really like how you can see "North Park" sign on some of the photos. I feel like I captured them at their true element, enjoying each other's company over a drink. I feel like they can do that all day if they had a chance. It's hard to find Aldrich being photo ready, so when I captured his smile, not a fake obligated smile, but a genuine smile means a lot to me and I'm sure to Jess too. CHEERS to the couple. The reason for the white boards were for the table arrangements at the wedding.

Happy Birthday Jess!!!

I have not been updating any pictures to my blog lately. I literally have gigs of photos I need to edit and post. From baby Joss' birthday, wedding with TaliaStudio, fun at the park, to fun projects to keep photography fun. It's been too damn hot to edit pictures. So when it starts cooling down is when I'll find the energy to hit the digital darkroom. Happy Birthday to everyone's friend, Jess Nix, soon to be Galimba. It was her 26th birthday. Someone is getting old. It's funny cause she shares the same birthday with another good friend of mine, Mister Pete Roq from Portland, Oregon. Last minute effort, we made him a youtube video as seen below. Mean while in Escondido, we always find a reason to drink. Of course, we'll drink to a birthday! Jess wanted to head to Churchill's. Everyone was giving her excuses on reasons why we couldn't make it out. Excuses from "I'm still at work" to "I have to meet with family". Funny thing is that she believed us. She got a little butt hurt, but by the time she hit the Tavern, she was all smiles. Here are some of the cool pictures from the night. Tuesday $2 shots. So we all drank a little bit. Feel free to download pictures and put them onto your Facebook if you have one. Click here to download pictures. Cause I know people love uploading pictures to Facebook. Hahaaa.

Cruisin' Grand

It's my first time this year visiting downtown during Cruisin' Grand. It was good to see so many people there along with some awesome classics. I don't know too much about classic American rides, but I certainly appreciate them and admire the work that goes into the cars. I walked around the event with my 20D and 100mm 2.8 macro. That's why all my shots are detailed close ups. Next time I'll bring my wide or even a standard lens. Check out some of the pictures in better detail here. Like always, thanks for stopping by. Stay Classy.

Al and Jess' Engagement Party

It's been a couple of weeks since this party happened, but the pictures must be posted. I arrived late to the party from work. I enjoyed myself way too much with this group. I feel like it is just a teaser of the excitement of the bachelor party and wedding. Everyone was there. If you weren't there, I guess you weren't anybody. Hahaaa...jk jk. Real close family and friends were surrounding it. One of the coolest FOB parties I've been part of. DJ, lecheon, alcohol/keg, family, and friends were all in the mix. I feel like the pictures do not do it justice since I wasn't focused on taking pictures. Yes I know some of the pictures are blurred/out of focus, whatever!!! I was having a good time. Hahaa.

Memorial Day @ Moonlight

It's been a while since I've posted on my blog. I have been busy drinking and working. I feel like I just ran a marathon of alcohol drinking. I'm not complaining. It was fun.

Look who came back to Cali!?!? Francis Batac! Straight from TEXAS!!! It was definitely fun hanging out with him, especially on Memorial Day. Day off with good friends at a packed beach. It was my first time this season hitting the beach. The weather was amazing, water was refreshing, food was filling, and friends are great. A lot of people came and go. All i know is that i was still tired when I hit the beach. So much sun made me lazy. From what the pictures are showing, it was a good time. Played some football, Frisbee, card games, and swimming. There are more photos/video from the gopro.

Set Sails to Bethany and Baby Cassius!!!

Brandon is stationed in Virginia now! Bethany and Cassius are leaving too! Military life I guess. Everyone's leaving San Diego. I'll miss seeing baby Cassius and B too. Happy for them at the same time. Brandon needs to be with his family. We were all drinking, eating, talking, a generally a good time like usual. We'll miss you Garcia family. I can't believe the next time I see baby Cassius, he'll probably be talking and walking. Hopefully rapping too. Who knows with this kid...he has lion blood in him thanks to Brandon aka Paradox. I know Brandon is already killin' it in the Navy. He'll make it home again to San Diego soon! Stay safe and see you guys soon.

Vacation: Oregon Trail Once Again

It's been nearly a month since I left Oregon. Finally had a chance to edit some of the photos from the trip. Great trip. I loved every moment of it. Real fun. So many memories. I'm glad I was able to capture a lot of it via GoPro/dSLR. I was able to do some site seeing in Oregon. We did everything I wanted to do in Oregon, given my wallet agreed with me. LoL!

We went snowboarding at Mount Hood Meadows of Timberlake. First time experiencing powder, empty mountain. I literally felt I was the only rider on the trails. I started to get scared because I wasn't sure if I was near civilization. After a day of boarding, we hit up McMenamins. A local bar that was featured in "Drinking Made Easy" with Zane Lamprey. Walking around the bar creep'd me out with all the scary paintings and knowing it was haunted. I don't know. Something about that place rubbed me the wrong way. I just drank more until that feeling went away. Hahaa.

During my visit, it was also St. Patrick's Day and did some site seeing to downtown Portland. I knew Portland was weird and nice, but didn't realize it was that NICE!! Like too nice. I'm not use to it. I feel like no one can be that nice without a motive. Seeing all the green made me sad that I didn't wear a green shirt. The next thing I know we went to the HQ of Nike. Yeah, I bought a grip of gear. It was awesome!! I was so overwhelmed, I needed Steph and Pete to do most of the shopping for me. So much fresh gear. I like I know what I'm doing when I hit the gym.

Another night of drinking was ahead of me. It was amazing to visit Rogue brewery. Grab some amazing beers, like "Good Chit". Hahaaa. Steph's favorite. After the drinks, hit up the coolest strip club I ever been too. Casa Diablo, meeting "Naomi", one of the hottest girls there. That place has built amazing images in my mind. I'll never forget. That's something that's staying with me. Hahaa.

Go Visit the Trans in Oregon with me next time!!

On Location: MTB WOODSON!!!

Ok, I have hiked Mt. Woodson for quiet a bit already. I can't run up it like Omar, but I definitely don't walk up it. I want to say I know the mountain fairly well. I know what to expect. I meet new hikers and like to share my experience to them. Everyone who hikes Woodson is cool in my books. But how many people mountain bike up Woodson and then down. Not to many. Like the dozen times I have hiked Woodson, I have only seen one biker attempt the climb. The more I think about it, the more confidence builds up. I can RUN mountain bike Woodson.

On a day off, Aldrich calls me up and says one word..."Woodson!" Of course I'm down! I told myself I would ride it. Ride it I did! I was concerned that Al would slow us down. NO FREAKIN' WAY!!! Aldrich is a beast on that mountain. Running up and down it. He beat me and Omar down the mountain. Given I had to shoulder the bike one some pretty gnarly obstacles. Totally worth it in the end to get some pictures at the top with my buddy Omar. Omar is something else. I hope to edit the footage of his downhill.

Both photos were taken by Aldrich with GoPro Hero2 and edited in Lightroom 3.
I am disgusted wtih Omar. That beast.

Yeah!!! We conquered Woodson!!

Tim's G35

A day after the rain is always a good day. Here are a few pictures of Tim's ride, a clean VQ35 with modifications found throughout the entire car. He only cleaned the exterior of his car. Hopefully, he'll detail it and get the whole package of a luxury car. If you know the location of this garage...good for you. If you know a better roof top garage that won't have us kicked out....LET ME KNOW!!!!

Not all the shots were done by me. Tim, being the ricer he is, he studies his angles and reads enough auto magazines to capture good auto pics.

All shots done by my Canon 20D either the 50mm 1.4 or the macro 100mm 2.8. All natural light. Edits done in Adobe Lightroom 3. If you have a copy of Lightroom 4...please send it my way.

British are Moving!?

Nick Wong, first friend, true statement, well, his friends are moving. But wait, don't be too sad, they found a place about a mile from their previous spot. It was the last day I partied at this house. Everyone was cool. Or maybe I was just drinking that much it made everyone cool. I don't know. All I know is that I had a good time. It was cool hanging out with my first friend, Nick and my Filipino brother Justin. I wonder if Lauren remembers his name? Hahaaa.

Here are some of the photos from the night.

On Location: Clean on the Outside, Cream on the Inside

My good buddy John just washed/wax his ride. Not a weekend warrior car, a daily driver Acura RSX Type-S with A-Spec styling. I've always been a fan of the car scene, I can talk about cars all day at time. It just happened that he was off and so was I. What a coincidence.

We hit up Harbor Island to shoot the San Diego skyline, Midway for a guerrilla type photo shoot, then downtown SD for some fresh graffiti. Tried different techniques, not bad for an hour photo shoot.

On Location: Stuart Collection

One of my goals for 2012 was to be more active in photography. Not just taking self portraits and shooting my friends' when we drink. Those are all fun too, but I need to practice more than just portrait photography. One thing that is helping me are local photography Meet-ups. I have the opportunity to meet other photographers and practice my trade.

This meetup was to walk throughout the campus of UC San Diego in La Jolla. A beautiful campus with color, design, and significance. I wonder if all UCSD students appreciate the art surrounding them.

Fallen Star
The Fallen Star is one of the newer pieces, created by Do So Suh. We were able to meet the director of the Stuart Collection and brought us up the top of the Fallen Star and explained the importance and meaning of it. Being an immigrant coming to America, he felt as everything was disoriented to him. When you take a step into the house, you feel that disorientation. Looking out the window, seeing the view of the campus and library. It wasn't furnished yet. Very cool structure to visit it.
Geisel Library, Snake Path, Garden of Eden

The Library is a marvel on its own. The snake path and the significance amazes me. Leading toward the library is a snake path, tiled and curved like a snake, not like a traditional path. The idea of the library is Paradise. With the snake being the path toward Knowledge (library).
This kid was just hanging out, studying. The colors and his lounging was attractive to me.
